We offer an exciting boat trip on the Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon on one of our amphibian boats, which is a boat that can run both on land and on water.
On this excursion you will sail between the giant icebergs, a picturesque scenario. On the boat you will be allowed to taste the 1000-year-old ice from the glacier, and if you are lucky, you may get the chance to see a seal or two.
The boat trip is about 30-40 minutes and with an English-speaking guide, who will explain you all about the geology and facts about the beautiful lagoon. Other languages can also be offered.
The Glacier Lagoon is close to Highway 1, approx. 370km (230 miles) east of Reykjavik, and is one of Iceland's most beautiful natural wonders.
Glacier Lagoon is a relatively new lagoon and was created by global warming. Giant ice blocks constantly break off the glacier, Breidamerkurjökull, and float around the lagoon. The Glacier Lagoon is a huge lake and 250 meters deep, making it the deepest lake in Iceland. The glacier that creates the fantastic glacier lagoon is called Breidamerkurjokul. Breidamerkurjökull is a glacier tongue, and part of Europe's largest glacier Vatnajökull.
